I came across this very interesting article on MSN as part of my daily routine before work and decided to read it after finishing the critical do-or-die weekly project (Ha! jus kiddin!). Anyways, this article was titled “Myth of Online Anonymity” by Robert Vermosi (Editor for MSN Tech & Gadgets).
Besides telling the reader about encrypted routers used for surfing, multiple IP addresses and usage of fake email accounts to remain anonymous, it would still be easy to determine the age, origin, nationality and sex(?this got me?) of the author who wrote it. It got me wondering! It went to describe how men and women thought and wrote differently. While men used words such as “some,” “this”, “as” in informal writing, women used “actually,” “everything,” and “because.” While writing formally, men wrote using words like “what”’, “more” and “around, whereas women would use words like “if” “with” & “where”. Now these are just few words, the extensive table of words used in each style of writing is not known, also the author (Neal Kazwetz) explicitly says this form is only 60% accurate. Also it could vary depending upon age of the writer and medium of communication. Eg: Emails most often tend to lean towards the informal type.
Now isn’t that interesting? To check if this really worked, i looked up the last blog that had more than 300 words and fed it into this tool devised by Dr. Kazwetz to determine the sex of the writer. I found La Louve’s balou blog. And the results were just amazing or should i say funny
Genre: Informal
Female = 1354
Male = 745
Difference = -609; 35.49%
Verdict: FEMALE
Genre: Formal
Female = 672
Male = 758
Difference = 86; 53%
Verdict: Weak MALE
Weak emphasis could indicate European.
Here’s the Kazwetz test which he’s called the ‘Gender Guesser’. We could try this out on the next blogger who joins DSS. Have fun, guessing.
Go to Forensics and scroll down and hit on Gender Guesser to take the test.

Ano, )) That Old World
Ano,
)) That Old World Charm blog today came to me when i was travelling in a bus today since i wasn’t picked up for office. I gave the conductor Rs.10 for a Rs.9 ticket. For some reason he just took the money, gave me the ticket and walked away. He passed me several times after that but never gave my ruppee back. I was wondering and calculating that he might not have change and counting how much i’ve got.
At last gathered courage to ask him “saar, change yenna ayithu” [what happened to my fucking change, you rotund forgetful conductor] to which he replied “chillar illa” [Don’t have it, you frigging vengeful mallu miser]
So i ask him if he’s got five ruppe note so i that i could give four ruppee coins in exchange. He said No and smiled and showed me his change bag. All Tens, twenties, and Hundreds. So i take out coins from my wallet in twos and ones totalling to nine ruppees and give it to him. He gives me ten ruppees. I saved a ruppee today and gladly put some of that ‘Old World Old School Charm’ back into my wallet. Thought i’d share it with you…

how charming!!
…which reminds me of some snippet I watched on [V] today - a spoof on news channels - braking news - wherein the reporter warns you to keep cardiologist on hold coz you are sure to suffer a heart attack when you hear…..an autodriver returned 30p change to an IT professional…IT pro has 3 ten paises framed and hung on his wall, shaking head in utter disbelief…autodriver reminiscing about ma in bihar and how proud she would be of him!!
growing old? nah - ur prince charming!
ano, It is only 60%
ano,
It is only 60% accurate so you must be falling outside such confidence levels in such a test in this particular write-up. Moreover your subject on that blog was primarily technical, data migration, installation, so the language captured in the those paragraphs were probably written around explaining such, that is why im guessing. Again, im guessing too.

Male = 636
Difference = 142; 56.28%
Verdict: Weak MALE
Weak emphasis could indicate European.
