Enjoyed it imp. I guess the front row crowd would like you to spice it up. Forget all that when you write think of me as your only audience. : )

I notice that certain Mallu when he talks about food, refers to all but one region. And I see someone already shouting hai hai. Ignore them. They know not what they do.

Varkala is so serene. Exactly what time of the day are you waking up to take the beach pictures.

hey

as you very well said, ‘they know not what they do’… very true Smiling

and thanks for noticing the pictures. i was kinda sad that no one else had anything nice to say about them. the ‘experts’ could have patronisingly said, “and btw, good photos” but no such comments came. alas such is life Sad

varkala is serene only between dawn and 9 AM and gets progressively worse as the day progresses. i took these pics around 7AM.

aww imp

I did not say anything about the Pics cus I was expecting more about food. And the hai hai was for doll and not you. The pics were nice but since I haven’t done much travelling in India, I don’t have much to compare it with. The pic on the beach with the ppl and boat was interesting though.

talk

of fishing for compliments… Big Grin

Wow

Hey imp ; this is a good start to the series. It is great that you could do something like this. And secong Whiner; wud love to know something more about the group. Hope u make the next tour open for Indians also.

Human Angle needed..

Hi Suresh,

So far so good. Just my 2 cents, I think to pep up ur posts a bit further, U can slowly start to introduce us to some of the colorful members of Ur firangee tour party. Maybe u have already planned that in Ur upcoming posts.. but if u have not, then plz consider my suggestion. A bit of human angle (some conversation tit-bits exchanged between the group members & you) would spice up Ur post just nice. What do U say ??

IW

what are you looking at specifically?!!

ananta

in qualitative studies, researchers quote important respondents responses verbatim in order to add value to his interpretations and to enable the readers judge the correctness of it. maybe IW doesnt believe in my reading of things and hence wants the conversations so that he can nod and say “thats right, old boy” Smiling :)

I hate to say

but your are showing traits of ‘uncleness’ suresh Eye-wink C’mon u r not so old, men are not called uncles just because they are married !
IW wants you to describe ‘people’ in the group !!

Yes Anantha..

Yes anantha thats what I want.. some characterization of the people involved…like there would a whiner or two, some late latiff, a joker in the pack, some kavi (poet) perhaps ? and the likes.. thats what I wanted to know about this group.. Not exactly the conversation etc per se.

tch tch

such double standards doll Sticking out tongue
Men aren’t called uncles just because they are married. And I call unmarried females also aunty.
I see a AP murdabad and AP hai hai in ur near future Big Grin

I second whiner

Put in the human angle. Introduce your tourists. what was their reaction to the place , the food and stuff. talking of food. where is it ? Sticking out tongue

all in good time

lady and gentleman. all requested accepted. the next vesion mein, action hai, drama hai, emotion hai, romance bhi hai. (that was to get ur attention, bachelor folks!). seriously, the next version will have food as well as people as well as talk.

yaar pradzie

started this blog wanting to write about the food but somehow got carried away… Smiling food will come soon but nothing very spectacular, i must warn.

we just had lot more cooking planned initially but the group was more keen on eating and drinking beer than learning how to cook. so in the end we had only 5 cooking sessions. one was in someone’s house, the rest were in kitchens of two institutions. we had made plans to organise some demos in hotels as well.

this the first stop of the tour and i guess it will take no less than 10 episodes to finish this series.

would we be doing a non-veg tour? light-heartedly we thought of a beef n booze tour of west coast. who know maybe it will materialise one day.

imp

I think its understandable when people just wanna booze and lay back than work hard and learn to cook the vegetarian recipes of south india. I guess you’ll have to work around these folks and reinvent, improvise the tour to a point where is more active participation to see it through to the end. I personally think you guys have hit on niche untapped market, food and travel, what more can one ask for? Great idea!

About your pictures, im happily surprised to see very little or no people in the images, esp when yuo mention Varkala as a touristy destination. I guess its offseason.

well

did i see a note of sarcasm when you mention veg food or am i looking too deep into the lines to the point of hallucinating? Smiling

we decided to let them have a good time first and if they are interested then organise some cooking sessions. for this group the hardest part was when we made them eat indian breakfast when they were longing for a nice bowl of porridge or cereals. i was thinking perhaps such a food and travel tour may interest some indians as well.

about the pics, i was up and around when the tourists were still sleeping and i was sleeping when the tourists were up and around (during mid-day).

Sir, I didn’t comment on

Sir,
I didn’t comment on the first blog on purpose since i was waiting for the food part. Honestly you’re tasting my patience now! as topkapi echoed, how did you organize the cooking part? I mean did you guys really cook or was it visiting houses and dining from there?

Will you guys be doing a non-veggie tour too? From Chettinad chicken (tamilnadu -Fish molly(Kerala)- Bland maadu (karnataka, thats a chicken curry delicacy, very blank and still chicken) to the portugese dishes of Goa.

Would like to see how this trip progresses, is it over yet? Where does the tour end?
