Well, that’s what I saw when I switched on the TV today… first thing in the morning! But I was not able to understand what Mr. Bhatia was talking about as I was watching the news clip midway. So, I headed to CNN-IBN’s web site. Well, I was disappointed by the way CNN IBN has reported.
Here is the article and these are some quips about the it:
Now Sabeer is planning to ride the newest application on the web – blogging.
Huh? Please get your facts right! Blogging is by no means the newest application on the web!
He made Hotmail 10 years ago and now he is making Hotmail a whole lot quicker and easier to use with a new software that works with the browser called blogeverywhere.
But faster Hotmail is just the hook as what he really wants you to do is blog using the same software.
Yes, that’s history now. How long will Mr. Bhatia wants to ride on the success of Hotmail? Wait a second, what is he trying to build now? A toolbar, that reads your Hotmail and allows you to blog! Huh? Anything else, lets see!
The software lets you blog anywhere and everywhere and anybody with the same software installed can read what you’ve written and Sabeer being Sabeer, he knows how he’s going to make money.
Blah! I can’t understand how just beeing Sabeer being Sabeer is going to help make money. I just didn’t understand what Mr. Bhatia is trying to do here.
And why should I install Mr. Bhatia’s software? I have an application called browser to do all the things that are listed above… thank you!
The software is a toolbar that sits below the addressbar in your browser and when you go to hotmail it starts downloading email.
Huh? Why will I let any software to read what I write in my mail?
But the real power of the toolbar lies in the ease with which it lets you post comments and read other people’s comments about anything and everything, something Sabeer is hoping to cash in on.
It’s an idea whose time may finally have come.
What? Does Mr. Bhatia has any clue that there are other websites that are already doing the same?
Google is making money by knowing what people are looking for and Sabeer Bhatia is going to try and make money by knowing what people are talking about.
Sorry Mr. Bhatia (and also CNN IBN?) the big ‘G’ is already doing what you are planning. And in a much bigger way. Don’t they own blogger? ![]()
He added that blogging will become one of the biggest Internet tools in the next few years.
Oh, I think Mr. Bhatia is atleast 5 years behind this time. Blogging is (or should I say was) the biggest Internet tool!
Looks like CNN IBN is also getting carried away by its success. Some thing to watch for Mr. Rajdeep!

Hi IBL !!!
Just to ask, How are you doing?
IBL
I think i partly understand the problem or rather the stance you’re taking on Bhatia’s so called magic blog cum browser cum mail cum supermarket desktop tool. You’re a tech guy, so’s Bhatia so its pretty much understandable.
Now about IBN, yes they definitely turned heads and later on had them rolling. But from what i gather, this is just their way of grabbing the marketshare from NDtv and the other major players. there’s also TimesNOW, but othere than their advertisement it still has to make an impact. IBN definitely is riding a wave of publicity, but i dont see it lasting for long. All this journalistic enthu which drew a commonner like us into watchin it, will sooner or later die out when they start leaning towards a political party. Opinions get manufactured. Thoughts are fed. News being reported as is, will be dead.
These days i surf thru these news channels to find out what happened to the Sr VP of Stan Chartered who drove his swanky Merc killing a watchmen in Mumbai. The last time i heard abt him was he was out on bail of Rs.10,000. Ain’t crime Cheap and inflation-free, so’s life.

>> why should I install Mr. Bhatia’s hardware ?
