I don’t believe in resolutions that too New Year ones ! This time I have thought that I should try out few. Resolutions, I feel, are like promises or laws which are made to be broken. If my resolutions tend to be like that so be it at least I will have satisfaction that I have done something! Here are few …
Well, what made me to make these resolutions! Each has its own story.
First being the photo of self, taken at some recent camping plus swimming expedition, I was looking at! I was alarmed to see my own photos and decided that I should restart gym at once! Okay, that’s resolution number 1.
Next is purely from professional point of view! Not that I did not know that I have time to spare everyday after doing my work but I was bit lazy to utilize that to do some serious certifications I always wanted to do. Now is the time !
To take up some serious reading ( particularly Kannada ones ). Was watching TV other day and the anchor was talking about a famous Kannada humor book ‘Gampara Gumpu’ ( Gang of Fools ) and I was ashamed to know I have not read it though I have heard about it lots of times. ( So if I cant borrow this from Capn I will buy it
)
To go for a trek/trip/hike/camping more often something like once in two months at least. To enjoy the nature as much as I can. This one after making a new set friends who make me envy with all their traveling. What is better than to join them.
Most important and hard to implement but definitely try to live by it - Live for the day or take each day as it comes ! Bit philosophical no doubt but this one was added to the resolution list ( Or may be formed the list mainly due to this ) after an incident which I hope will go out of my memory but afraid that it might just stay there.
Warning - Definitely not a pleasant incident to read about.
We were chatting by the roadside and I was casually looking at the road. In front of my eyes this heavy vehicle came so close to this middle aged guy on his bike. The guy probably sensed the vehicle behind him and tried to come to the left to allow the vehicle to pass. The gap was too less and speed was bit more. Vehicle touched the bike and guy lost the balance and fell down. Driver applied the brakes but it did not stop immediately. It dragged the vehicle and man for few meters. Heard a ‘thud’ sound and that was tyre running over his leg. The guy was right below the vehicle and leg was caught in the tyre. Vehicle finally came to a halt right next to us and I saw the guy’s leg at a distance. For a moment I thought he is dead but he slowly got up with one leg severed, body full blood and pieces of flesh thrown around. It all happened in few seconds and unfortunately I watched it completely.
Yesterday I saw a small article which said ‘Four killed in separate accidents’ One was this guy. I have no idea who he was, what he was doing, who were his dependents, how they will lead the life now, whether they were dependent on him. I cant imagine their grief. I dont want to imagine the situation but it is somehow not going out of my mind. As a colleague who co-incidentally happened to pass by at the same time remarked - This is all life is.
I was shocked is an understatement but this will create an unerasable impression on my mind and will probably make me look at life differently
*Sigh*
