For the past several minutes, I’ve been listening to an Indian rock band from Bangalore “Thermal and a Quarter”, thanks to an article I read on rediff today . The cool name apparently being a play on the band members’ origins (3.25 mallus)
Sample their funky-bluesy in parts album called “Jupiter Cafe” (spl. mention to the track called “Drunk”), and download their album “Plan B” from their website. Special goods - check out their instrumental piece called “Intermission”, and two more called “Dead Inside” & “I live here”.
And, oh yes, one more link .. these guys were featured on NPR earlier this year. You can listen to the 10-minute interview here.
Needless to say, enjoy
… hey Cap’n/Kculon and other B’lore-based jam-heads - you’ve seen these guys live ??

Drummer, base, lead guitarist, vocals, all in all a-mazing !
And they have struggled for a really long time and believe me.. they have come a long way, am glad to see where they are now..
future backstage pass connection :)
rads, if they come in to town for a gig, i now know who to ask for intros to get backstage passes
yes, it’s good to see indian bands getting successful doing their own songs. it’s one thing for desi outfits to do covers, it’s quite another to insist & build upon originality. hope TAAQ & their contemporaries in india get bigger & bigger.

They rock ! They are frm my college an this ol’ classmate of mind is married to the lead singer as well! They totally rock !
christ college alumnus, rads ??
our college fest used to have a highly-regarded rock music competition open to both college teams & semi-professional outfits - christ had an amazing band, incl. one of the very best drummers, imho, in amateur circles at the time, and a flute-player who added a unique dimension to their sound. i remember they more than held their own against semi-prof outfits. TAAQ benefits, i guess, from those kinda bloodlines
