Virtual Diary

Day 1

Its early but I should leave now. If someone had heard me to saying it to myself they would have laughed at me. It was already 30 minutes past 8 in the evening. I deliberately used the expression “30 minutes past 8” instead of 8:30 pm as I have got into this habit of reading few expressions of German from a friend’s mail everyday and that reminds me of German class I attended long back. I find it funny the way Germans tell the time ( like 5 minutes after 30 minutes before 9 for 8:35 )

Coming back, I am so used to staying late in office that I have forgotten what life is outside the office during weekdays. Something has changed after I came back from US this time. I can feel it but I cant make out what. May be lack of work in project? I dont know. Taking one last look at mail box, I lock my computer and head home. Time to have dinner and I have a choice to go to my usual hotel or get a take-away from a place near my home. I opt for the second choice as its quite some time I had Jowar Roti and brinjal curry ( a north karnataka specialty ) with some curd rice ( ofcourse )

Its 9:30pm and I am feeling bored. I cant believe it. It was me who was cribbing before that I cant go home early and now that I can, I don’t know what to do. I take a small walk but the bored ness wont go away. There is nothing interesting to read too as I dont want to continue reading that cryptography book full of mathematical formulas late at night !
I feel ashamed of myself. How can I get into such a state where I dont know what to do for few hours? whatever happened to my life? Whatever it is, I will have to change that.

Day 2

As usual I begin to feel I need to go home as I dont have much to do. That reminds me of previous day’s boring existence. Which also reminds me of how I enjoyed myself, just few years back, going home early and cooking dinner listening to favorite songs. Cooking is ruled out now. I just dont have patience to cook only for myself ( okay guys, i know what you are going to comment for this one! ). Had dinner and walked into my room to read day’s paper. Searched all channels in the radio for some classical songs and none of the stupid channels were airing one.

Not that I had not seen the dust filled player before. Infact I see it every morning but never thought of cleaning it ! So much for my cleanliness mantras. Slowly dusted off the player. Brown colored player turned to its original colour. Actually its one of the stupid decisions my ex-roomie and myself had taken i.e to buy that player. We bought it on impulse and for the price we paid it never worked properly. Not surprisingly he left it with me when he left the house after marriage. It works and for the moment its sufficient !

Started playing one of my all time fav songs ( for those interested its “Shambo Mahadeva” especially sung by Chembai ) and next thing I know is I have slept without even completely listening to it! How much I enjoyed the evening! There is one nagging problem though. As soon as I keep place my head on the pillow, I realise I haven’t switched on the fan and to do that I need to get up! If I switch on the fan, it will be cold and I would need a thicker bed sheet to cover myself. I dont have to switch on the fan actually.Weather is just perfect. If not for that mosquito which promptly starts flying over my head 15 mins after the light is switched off….. I can never sleep with that mosquito flying sound. Long back when I was kid, dad and myself had this competition almost every other day of killing the mosquitoes in the room! Its my mistake that I am forgetting to buy a mosquito repellant and I think of it only when I switch off the lights!
I switch on the fan and go to sleep !

Day 3 onwards
If I am not at home by dinner time I feel odd! How did I manage to spend so much time in office before ?!

PS : My new Honda bike is cool ( Suprisingly I bought a bike only now and may be one of the few guys who bought a car first and then a bike! I was using my cousin’s till now )! I feel like actually riding a bike and not after Yamaha ( remember the controversial 110 cc one?! ) I had got such a wonderful feeling! May be, just may be, I had a feeling that I was missing some thing when I did not think about money much while buying. Pangs of middle class mentality may be ‘coz I did not have to think too much or signs of flourishing working class? I dont know but what I do know is I am acting like a teenager madly in love ( I am not that old ..still…) ! Waiting to go on a long drive some time! I know I am comparing apples and oranges but riding a bike gives much more satisfaction than riding a car!

!!!!!!

*New* Honda Bike?!?

3+1 = 4. Square root (4) = 2.
Sin 45 = 1 / Square root (2) = (1/2) * (Square root (2))
= (1/2) * 1.414 = 0.707

[some more furious calculations…]
