One such accident

It was a small article in the newspaper and for most of the people it would have been a routine read. With so many deaths occurring in past few weeks, we have become used to this. But for us it was personal.

The article did not say much except that an accident which occurred in a plant of national importance took one life and left several others injured. By then we knew it and probably eyes were searching for the same write up.

I had just missed that relative of mine when we last went to native few months back. Young chap was full of energy, had two small kids and was like the prime decision maker of his family who stay in a village. I cant imagine how his wife and kids will cope up with the tragedy. When others were lucky enough to come out of the tragedy with injuries, whatever they might be, why should he be the unfortunate one?

When aunt called up their village and spoke to his father, the old man said ‘He should have done our final rights but now we are doing his’. What a tough thing for the old couple. Ofcourse inquiry will be ordered, some compensation will be given but will it suffice? Hope the family will have enough strength to cope up with the tragedy.

Reminds me of a story I had read long time back. A sadhu visited a kingdom once and stayed there for sometime. King made sure his stay was comfortable. At the end of the stay, King went to the Sadhu and asked his blessings. Sadhu said ‘Let your father die. Let you die. Let your child die’
King was so furious that he ordered the sadhu to be beheaded but before that wanted to know from him why he was blessed like this in spite of being a good host. The sadhu calmly replied ‘If the order in which I blessed gets changed in any way it will bring great misery’. Only then King could understand the blessings.
