Dud Sea Scrawls The Writing, clearly, is not on the wall!

There was this person I knew from Sulekha. Her name was ChayaLife. The id as you can see was very catchy. I only came to know later that chay meant life and so life in there was sorta redundant but for someone who does not know Turkish [that is where it comes from right?] I thought chaaya meant shade and so the name sounded a lot serene. The song that came to mind was Zindagi Dhoop Tum ghana saaya! The saaya replaced with chaaya ofcourse. Well anyways so this person would almost always comment on me series’ on Sulekha. Not to mention very enthusiastically, exuberantly and ofcourse with a a lot of Fizz. I used to wonder who she was and had almost negligble convo with her through the comments section. I used to observe that she seemed to be as her comments suggested very very exuberant with almost everyone there. But that was that. My sulekha appearances were very limited [only when I was two-timing DSS with my stories there ;-)] and the contact did not go any further.

Until ofcourse Chay decided to join DSS. She was commenting here now with the same enthu and the same sunny disposition. Many a time I found myself chuckling at her frothy comments. And then there was that blog she posted. About her husband fighting it out on the streets. I was very amused as I read that blog. I found it sweet too though a little strange that she seemed to be enjoying what her errr..hero was doing - bashing up her tormentors! But once I knew Chay I did not think it was strange anymore. Why? Not telling!

There were a few brushes on SB too but not anything to talk about. I’d check archives sometimes and she would be talking in this weird language. Chankoo..fweetie…fowwie…and a lot more. And ofcouse the legendary Chay is doing this, Chay like ssm, chay wants to fight blah blah. She would chat during is paar hours, so I hardly got to talk to her but I saw SSM saying something about chayisms. So that was what the weird sounds were all about!

One fine day she decided to join us @ our us paar hours and I still remember her first time clearly [c]. As is usual whenever a new member from the fairer sex comes across on DB the famous coo-coo club and the ya-ya sister/brotherhod [which is struggling to match its more famous contemporary] were dore-daaling on Chay. There was one difference though. They were doing the dore-daaling for the other club. Peps was goin - oh! the choo-choos are so cool and I was going ya-ya is for ya chaaya! Needless to say chay was thoroughly confused but decided to go with ya-ya since the coo-coo group err sounded cuckoo to her. Whatever reason she is a proud member of the ya-ya clan and with her agressive recruiting techniques is challenging the founder/ceo of ya-ya [who is also the only other active member] Peppy. Not to mention that she is the pioneer of the danganakkara routine. What is it you ask? Ask chay and she will demonstrate it to you. But please don’t say that I didn’t warn you

I have had some very fun moments with her around on SB. The highlights being ragging Vivek [who now btw both of us pursue, though Vivek has categorized Chay as being his Godmother which she refuses to recognize], samwiching buck wherein for once he was thoroughly exhausted and ofcourse the trio sessions with peppy which are crazily hilarious!

So chay, here’s to you! Happy budday and hope to sip that dum-ki-chai with you one day and of course -
Tumko dekha tho yeh khaayal aaya! Zindagi dhoop tum ghana chaaya!
