Buddy list?
I do understand that many prople may not like the buddy list feature. Let me be frank here and tell you guys that even though we are a close-knit group, I have my preference of buddies with whom I love to be in constant touch. Now, buddy list kinda maintains this contact list for me.
Also I don’t like to miss out on a few of my fav. blogger’s blogs. And during days of blog-dysentery I’ll be able to check out my fav. writer first and then move on to others if time permits.
Well, this is just my personal choice. I would love to have the buddy list feature. And I don’t understand why we are so touchy about this feature? 
Any clues? 
if I was asked about this whole buddy thing...
I would say.. lets not get overwhelmed by the features.. lets try to focus on why we are here.. [to write, ainnit?
and keep everything else to a minimum to keep us here.. otherwise DSS will turn into another monster like Sul!!

However close one may be to others (or vice versa), there is a sacred space that should not be tresspassed. I believe in respecting this sacred space.
When you say, close-knit group, in what sense? Exchange of photos, gossips, or back-patting each other? Think again. (Asha, they’ll hate you more! Shut up!)
When it comes to privacy… It’s all pirated!
According to me, my buddies play a special role in my life. These are the people who don’t judge me based on my words, actions, or whatever. And, they are with me irrespective of whether I need them or not, and I’m with them irrespective of whether they need me or not; intergral part of each other. That, that’s a special relationship.
One of the best examples of sacred space is captured in the book, Maneaters of Malgudi by RKN. He talks about a blue curtain. Amazing! It takes a lot more maturity to understand the concept, role, purpose of oneself and his/her buddies in one’s life.

Does the buddy list feature
Does the buddy list feature mean that you can see only your buddy’s blogs or something? This is what I gather from Blue’s lengthy comment!!
If thats the case, then I am certainly not for it… And even otherwise, I dont find any charm in that feature… why wud I go to blogs via the buddy list when I can directly access the blogs!

i totally don’t care, one way or the other. if i read it right, it looks like i’ll be able to see a maximum of 5 blogger-ids on my list, right ? i want to keep track of more bloggers than that. so, for me, this fails as a replacement for a blog-specific RSS-feed

Nope ssm, its just the number of buddies that’s displayed to others in the profile. You can track as many buddies as you want, that is not restricted!

Problem is with ..
ability to know other’s buddies. This is like entering other’s space. Just like in YM messenger we cant know who are the pals of our friends, I would not like to know the buddies of my buddy and vice-versa.
Otherwise Buddy concept is pretty good imo.

Anyway, the number of buddies shown in the list can be reduced to a min. (which is one).

Jokes apart , its not abt what happens or not, its just abt privacy. Unnecessary details should not be known to others ! This was one debate which went on and on in CH for a long time !
But as it is I dont have a problem. Even I did not use network feature in Sulekha too and wont be using buddy feature here ! So its fine!
